EAA guide
EAA guide — for product teams
Six steps to EAA compliance without an overlay widget.
-
1. Identify services
Is the service consumer-facing? Does it fall under a covered industry (e-commerce, transport, banking, communications)? Is the organization a microenterprise?
-
2. Define journeys
List 2–3 critical business journeys. Don't scan the whole domain — prioritize conversion and identity paths.
-
3. Choose the standard
EN 301 549 is the European harmonized standard. It maps to WCAG criteria.
-
4. Fix at source
Component-level fixes are durable. An overlay widget is not a substitute.
-
5. Publish the statement
Publish an accessibility statement. Link to the feedback channel.
-
6. Run the feedback channel
Respond within 14 days. Document responses. Plan regression monitoring against releases.
